Thanks for Stopping By!

Emmanuel Covenant Church is a brand new

Christian congregation that meets in the Shoreview area.

You are welcome here!

This may be your first interaction with a Christian community. Perhaps you are seeking truth or a little help from above...

Maybe you've been burned (or burned out) by organized religion in the past...

It could be that you've recently moved and are looking for a place to connect...

You might be looking for a safe place to piece your life back together...

Or maybe you're just looking for something different, something deeper, something more grounded, something that's more relevant, something that's more fun...

We invite you to Experience Emmanuel.

In a church that's both relevant and reverent.

With people who are friendly and real.

Where the worship is both excellent and engaging and the teaching is both biblical and practical.

Where there are amazing programs for kids and fantastic opportunities for people of all ages.

Check out our service!

You can find us at Chippewa Middle School every Sunday morning @ 10:00. Click here for directions.

Preparing For Your First Visit

Is this going to be awkward?
We hope not!  In preparation for our first service, we visited all kinds of churches to see what we could learn. Experience is a great teacher. Having been then where you are now, we’re doing our best to help you have an “awkward moment free” experience from start to finish.

We have easy to read signs, easy to find info areas, easy to understand brochures and handouts, and friendly (but not OVERLY-friendly) people who are ready to help answer your questions. Just look for someone wearing a white lanyard with the initials “ECC” on it.

The service itself is easy to follow and you won’t be singled out or put in a position where you’ll be asked to do something that feels goofy.

We’ll do our absolute best to keep your first (and subsequent) visits “awkward moment free”. If you find anything otherwise, please let us know!

Is there an unwritten dress code?
No. We put our dress code in writing. Click here for…  Just kidding!  Speedos would be over the top, but we’re pretty much a “come as you are” church. Some choose to dress up in their “Sunday best” as a way to show reverence, some are guided by the “it’s what’s on the inside that counts” principle, and others just wear whatever’s clean. There’s no need to dress up or down. Come as you are.

Is there anything for kids on Sunday morning?
Even though we’re a brand new church, we’re already offering programs for our kids!  We currently have safe, fun, and encouraging environments for kids from birth – grade 5. We’ll continue to add additional programming for older students as soon as we’re able. Just follow the signs to find the appropriate registration areas (and budget a couple extra minutes to get your kids checked in). There’s no cost for any of these programs.

What about the music?
ECC has a fantastic Worship Pastor and Worship Band. They play a variety of songs ranging from vintage hymns to the very latest. Style varies a bit, but you can count on musical excellence, God-honoring lyrics, ear-honoring volume levels, and a team that isn’t seeking to put on some kind of show – they desire to keep the focus on God as they lead us in authentic worship.

How about the teaching?
At ECC, we believe biblical and practical aren’t oxymorons. We also believe it’s possible to be both relevant and reverent. The teaching portion of our service is generally part of a series designed to help us better understand and apply biblical truth to our lives (note the use or “our” in that sentence – you won’t get someone who thinks they have it all figured out telling you how to be as perfect as they are). There’s also an attentiveness on our part to the historic church calendar, avoiding “Christianese” and simplistic answers, and keeping our teaching as authentic and engaging as we can.

Are you one of those churches where people raise their hands and close their eyes and all that stuff when they sing?
At ECC, we believe people should be free to express themselves in worship. Yes, you will likely see some people stand and close their eyes while they sing. But that freedom goes both ways. Equal respect is shown to those who are not as demonstrative.

If I show up, am I going to get put on nursery duty or anything?
That depends…  Are you good with kids? (Another joke – in case you were wondering)  We hope you find us to be really friendly, not really intrusive. If you feel people twisting your arm, let us know and we’ll remind them of our “at ECC we’re not space invaders” pledge.

How’s the coffee?
We sent out our biggest coffee fanatics to find the good stuff!  We’ll have some other goodies ready for you too.

Should I bring anything?
We encourage people to bring a Bible if you have one and a pen or pencil if you’re a note-taker. But these aren’t necessary. Once again, come as you are.

Is there anything else I should know?
The service begins at 10:00 am and usually goes until about 11:15 am.

It might also be helpful to know in advance that Chippewa does not allow food or beverages in their auditorium. Help us in honoring their facility by keeping all food and drinks in the hallways and cafeteria.
