The Devil (Almost) Made Me Do It

Monday, May 16th, 2011

Ever feel like you’re battling forces that are hell-bent on breaking up your family?  Unfortunately, much of what is taught about “spiritual warfare” is about as beneficial as embroidering a cross on your swimsuit before jumping into crocodile-infested waters.  Join us this August to discover how you can effectively protect your loved ones from our unseen enemy.

Part 1: “This Kind”

The Bible describes a deceptive adversary who desires to steal, kill and destroy. In our series opener, we’ll set out to separate fact from fiction regarding who he is, what he does and how we protect ourselves and our loved ones from his influence.

Part 2: “Hold Your Ground”

The Bible provides a very specific list of spiritually protective practices and spiritually effective weapons. In part two, we’ll take a look at how we can equip ourselves for battle against our unseen enemy.

Part 3: “Untwisting Temptation”

Our enemy doesn’t create – he only twists what God meant for good. In Part 3 we’ll learn that the best strategy to resist temptation is to pursue God’s best!

Part 4: “Worship As A Weapon?”

Talk about counter-intuitive…  One of the most effective strategies in overcoming evil involves surrender.

Part 5: “We Will Rejoice”

As important as Parts 1-4 are, this may be the week you least want to miss.  Learn a surprisingly simple weapon that can produce surprisingly powerful results.

In His Image (June 19)

Why do so many men hate church?  Perhaps fewer would if churches didn’t try to force them into a mold that most weren’t created to fit.  Join us this Father’s Day as Pastor Chris helps us understand the importance of embracing what it means to be created in His image (Genesis 1:27).

The Greatest (June 26 and July 3)

God With Us (March 13 – April 24)

At ECC, Easter is much more than a pleasant interruption.  In the weeks leading up to Easter, we join millions of believers around the globe in observing Lent.

Lent is a season marked by an extra attentiveness to reflection and repentance as we journey with Christ to the cross.  This year, we’ll use Matthew’s Gospel as our guide.

Matthew was a former tax collector who was likely considered a traitor by the Jews.  To the surprise of many, Jesus called Matthew to follow Him.  And Matthew did.

Matthew’s unique perspective as both insider and outsider makes for an intriguing account of what happened when the ancient prophecy was fulfilled…

“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and they shall call His name, ‘Emmanuel’ (which means, God with us).” -Matthew 1:23
