Sunday Services

Both a gathering and a gateway.

Our Worship Service is our largest gathering. Sunday morning is a time for the entire church family to come together under one roof – men and women, young and old, those who have followed Jesus for years and those who are just exploring the faith.

Our Worship Service is also our primary gateway. Sunday morning is one of your best opportunities to meet others who call ECC home and discover how you can connect and grow throughout the week.

Sometimes uncomfortable.  Never awkward.

Our desire is to faithfully pursue authentic Christianity.  In doing so, we frequently come across Passages that make us uncomfortable.  We won’t ignore or steer clear of these difficult Verses.

But uncomfortable and awkward are two different things.

While we can’t promise that you’ll never feel uncomfortable, we do promise to do our very best to keep your experience awkward moment free from start to finish.  We have easy to read signs, easy to find info areas, easy to understand brochures and handouts, and friendly (but not OVERLY-friendly) people who are ready to help if asked.

The service itself is easy to follow and you won’t be singled out or put in a position where you’ll be asked to do something that feels goofy.

Tradition with a twist.

We value the vintage aspects of our faith.  We regularly include songs, symbols, prayers and practices that transcend history.  Expect to see liturgical colors in play, expect to hear a song or two that bridges generations and expect to gather in a space that feels more sacred than secular.

However, while we embrace timeless truth and meaningful traditions, we also believe programs and packaging should remain culturally relevant.  Expect to see modern twists on the old classics.

Is there an unwritten dress code?

No. We put our dress code in writing. Click here for… Just kidding!

Clothing inspired by Lady Gaga would be over the top, but we’re pretty much a “come as you are” church. Some choose to dress up in their Sunday best as a way to show reverence, some are guided by the “it’s what’s on the inside that counts” principle, and others just put on whatever’s clean. There’s no need to dress up or down. Come as you are.

What about the music?

We have an outstanding Worship Band. They play a wide variety of songs ranging from vintage hymns to the best of the new.

Each week you can count on musical excellence, God-honoring lyrics, ear-honoring volume levels, and an environment that doesn’t feel like a concert.  We believe that God – not the Worship Band – should be the focus of our worship.

How about the preaching and teaching?

The Bible sometimes draws a distinction between “preaching” and “teaching” (Matthew  4:23; Luke  20:1; 1 Timothy  4:13).  At ECC, we embrace both.

You’ll receive in-depth, practical teaching designed to help you better understand the Bible and apply it to your life.  You’ll also hear inspirational preaching that proclaims the good news of God’s salvation through Jesus Christ.

Some weeks we look to the Scriptures for guidance regarding a particular topic.  Other weeks we let a particular Passage simply speak for Itself.  Every week there’s an attentiveness to the historic church calendar, an aversion to simplistic answers and an appreciation for authenticity.

What about kids?

Our Kids Church is amazing! We offer a safe environment with fun-filled, Bible-based lessons that capture kids’ attention and captivate their hearts and minds.

If I show up, am I going to get put on nursery duty or anything?

That depends…  Are you good with kids? (Just kidding – again)

We hope you find us to be really friendly, not really intrusive.  You’re our guest – we won’t ask you to do the dishes…

How’s the coffee?

We ask our coffee lovers to only brew the good stuff.  Each week we also offer fresh donut holes and homemade goodies at no charge.

Should I bring anything?

Some people bring a Bible from home – but there’s nothing you’ll need that won’t be provided.  Please come as you are.

PS.  If you don’t have a Bible at home, please take one of ours home as a gift.  You’ll find a stack of Bibles on the Welcome Table inside the Worship Center.

Is there anything else I should know?

Our early service begins at 9:00 am and our second service begins at 10:45.  We do our best to start on time and our services usually last 70-75 minutes.

When we come to the offering portion of the service, please let the offering baskets pass (we really mean that).  However, we do hope that you’ll consider filling out a Connection Card.  Don’t worry, we won’t give away your info or show up at your door.  The Connection Card simply allows us to thank you for coming and answer any questions you have.  We’ll use your Connection Card as a reminder to pray for you throughout the week.
