Membership

Membership Matters

We believe God gave us our name… And we take the Covenant part of it very seriously.

Biblically speaking, a covenant is a binding agreement grounded in meaningful relationship. If you’re serious about following Jesus, He’ll eventually lead you into a covenant relationship with a specific community of faith.

Covenants are to Christians as roots are to plants.  Entering into a covenant with a specific congregation of believers promotes accountability, helps you to know and be known and encourages personal contribution and investment.

How do I become a member of ECC?

ECC members have been baptized (as an infant, child, teen or adult), profess Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and look to the Bible as their authoritative Source for belief and conduct.

Prior to becoming a member, individuals also complete our New Member Course and sign a Membership Covenant. New Members are affirmed by existing members during one of our worship services.

Individuals 13 and older are welcome to sit in on the Membership Course. However, you must be at least 18 years old to become a voting member of ECC.

What happens at the New Member Course?

Friday night is geared towards getting to know each other better and learning about ECC’s vision, values and unique signatures.

Saturday morning we explore the Biblical basis for church membership and discuss ECC’s Membership Covenant.

Before the weekend is thru, you’ll have a chance to meet staff and team leaders, you’ll connect with others who are making ECC their new church home and you’ll become equipped with key resources and info so you can make an informed decision regarding membership.

Where and when is the next New Member Course?

We currently offer New Members Courses about once every six months.  They take place at ECC’s HQ (513 Tanglewood Drive in Shoreview).  We meet from  7:00 – 9:00 pm on Friday night and from  9:00 am – 12:00 pm on Saturday morning.

Our next New Member Course is Friday, February 17 – Saturday, February 18.

Is childcare offered?

While individuals 13 and older are welcome to sit in, we’re currently unable to offer childcare for younger kids.

How do I sign up?

Simply RSVP to Pastor Chris by Sunday, February 12.
