Becoming a partner
We regularly receive requests from exceptional people representing exceptional ministries.
It’s not uncommon for ECC to receive several requests per week asking us to promote a cause or to provide financial support. One of our greatest challenges as a growing church is to discern our response to this growing number of requests.
Effective ministry flows out of relationship.
Experience has taught us if everything is important, nothing is. Therefore, we opt to go all in with a few partners rather than minimally support many partners (an intentional choice to be mile deep vs. mile wide). Click here for a list of our current partners.
Here are the initial DECISION FILTERS we consider before entering into a covenant partnership:
- Is this cause of greater kingdom significance than other causes we could promote or invest in?
- How will a partnership with this organization further our mission to help people grow in their relationship with God and others?
- How will this investment affect our commitment to our current partners?
- Is this a cause that has the potential to engage the whole church family (kids, teens, adults, seniors)? Is a large percentage of our church family likely to be inspired to contribute their time and resources to this cause? Will they be able to personally make a tangible difference? What are the accessibility issues (communication barriers, safety factors, cost/duration of travel)?
- Are there at least two ECC members who will passionately champion this cause from start to finish?
- Do we have the resources to exceed expectations?
- Will this investment lead to future requests and expectations that we aren’t prepared to commit to?
- Are their any timing considerations?
Here are our BOTTOM LINE questions:
- Does supporting this cause pass the Acts 15:28 test (“it seemed good to the Spirit and to us”)?
- On a scale of 1-10, how strongly do we believe the Holy Spirit is calling us to this partnership?
If you would like ECC to consider promoting or investing in your cause…
Please send us a written proposal addressing DECISION FILTERS #1-5. Submit your form to info@emmanuelcovenant.com (remember to include your contact info). A Ministry Team Leader will review the proposal. If the Ministry Team Leader and their team enthusiastically support your proposal, they will submit it to ECC’s Leadership Team for final approval.
Yes, our screening process is robust!
However, this helps our congregation avoid the mission diffusion that plagues too many churches and keeps them from entering into rich, mutually transformative relationships with their ministry partners.
